Molded cog thread is only recommended for areas of thicker skin such as heavy jowls, thicker neck or body skin.  The thread is generally stronger and thicker.  Portion of thread is outside of cannula which creates strong immediate fixation.  Blunt tip allows for safer passage of 18G cannula.
